MyPeace Australia (Islamic Evangelism)

The Sydney Morning Herald reports of a new Islamic awareness campaign to be launched in Sydney by Islamic group MyPeace. They group will be funding advertisements on billboards and buses featuring slogans such as ''Jesus: a prophet of Islam'', ''Holy Quran: the final testament'' and ''Muhammad: mercy to mankind''.

This approach seems similar to the "We Love Jesus Too" campaign of Islamic Awareness Australia a few years back. The core principle of evangelism is one similar to that of Ahmed Deedat:

  • Tell Christian's that Muslims believe in Jesus
  • Tell Christian's the Bible is unreliable
  • Tell Christian's the Qur'an is "perfect" and "scientific"
However, all three arguments are objectively false. In the recent article MyPeace organiser Diaa Mohamed stated that "''The only difference is we say he [Jesus] was a prophet of God, and they say he is God." As we will see in the next few posts, this is not what Muslims believe about Jesus. The Jesus of Islam is very much different to the Jesus of history and the Jesus of Christianity.

Should the group be honest in their evangelism, I would be supportive. But, sadly, that is not their intention.
